Grab your paintbrush, sharpen your scissors, and get ready for three full days of watercolor and cut-paper collage — plus a welcome reception to kick things off — with artists Terry Runyan and Lynn Giunta.

Through playful exercises and simple, guided prompts, you'll explore color mixing, watercolor tips & tricks, and the art of collage — all while staying curious, embracing the happy accidents, and remembering how much fun making art can be.

Zero experience required — beginners and seasoned artists alike are welcome here. Come make happy art with us!

Instructors

Terry Runyan is a visual artist, "creative encourager," and proud cat mom to her kitty, Rylee. Following a fabulous 30-year illustration career, Terry now runs her own business dedicated to helping others find their creative spark. Whether she’s painting playful animals, filming tutorials, or teaching workshops, Terry uses creativity to connect, inspire, and spread pure joy!

Lynn Giunta has spent over 41 years as a professional lettering artist, always on the hunt for the perfect combination of words. She is a maker at heart, creating expressive designs through cut paper, brush lettering and improvisation. She believes deeply in the power of imagination and play, and can't wait to invite you into her creative world. So grab your scissors and join the fun—who knows what magic we'll discover together!

Terry and Lynn first met working as artists at Hallmark Cards, and together have over 70 years of professional experience. Their shared love of creating sparked a lasting friendship. For more than 15 years they have gotten together to share coffee, conversations and art.

The charming Bluebird Studio is located 12 miles southwest of downtown Kansas City...between prairie village and old downtown Overland Park, Kansas. You'll find plenty of nearby hotels, plus shops and restaurants to explore between sessions.

Cancellation & Refund Info

Fees & Refunds (The Money Stuff)

Lock It In:
A signed waiver and a $300 non-refundable deposit hold your spot. The waiver will be sent to you after signing up.

Final Stretch:
The remaining $600 balance is due by September 15th (also non-refundable).

Waitlist Rescue:
If life happens and you can’t make it, we’ll refund your fee only if someone from our waitlist can swoop in to take your spot.

Leader No-Show:
In the super rare event a retreat leader can't make it, you’ll get a 100% full refund.

Safety Net:
We HIGHLY recommend grabbing travel insurance (for last-minute surprises) since personal cancellations are non-refundable.

Accommodations aren't included, so you get to pick your own cozy local stay!

Getting Here:

The Event: Watercolor & Collage Workshop Art Retreat

The Big Day: October 20th through the 23rd 20261.

1. Paint Happens (And That’s Okay!)

By joining us today, you acknowledge that art can get a little messy—and that’s half the fun!

You understand that:

Clothes might get customized: Paint, dye, and glitter have a mind of their own.

We recommend wearing clothes you don't mind adding a little "artistic flair" to.

Tools of the trade: We’ll be using standard art supplies (think scissors, hot glue, paintbrushes, carving tools). Minor mishaps like tiny cuts, hot glue nips, or colorful fingers can happen if we aren't careful.

Safety first: You agree to follow the instructor’s guidelines so everyone keeps all ten fingers and leaves with awesome art!

2. The "No Drama" Agreement (Assumption of Risk)

You are joining this creative adventure voluntarily. By signing below, you agree to roll with the fun and hold the Bluebird Studio or our team, and our venue harmless from any accidental paint splatters, minor injuries, or property damage that might occur while you're channeling your inner Picasso.

3. Food, Drinks & Snacks

Please make sure you’re taking care of your own dietary needs and allergies. If a medical emergency comes up, you give us permission to call for professional help on your behalf.

4. Fame & Glory (Photo Release)We love showing off how talented our artists are!
